Sliding pocket doors.
Aluminium pocket doors offer a clean, architectural solution where space efficiency and minimal visual interruption are key. Designed to slide neatly into a concealed wall cavity, pocket doors disappear completely when open, creating uninterrupted flow between rooms.
Designed to connect spaces, not divide them.
At Alu Elite, our pocket door systems combine slim aluminium sightlines with precision-engineered sliding mechanisms, delivering smooth operation, long-term durability and refined steel-look styling suitable for both residential and commercial interiors across the UK.

Aluminium internal pocket doors
Aluminium internal pocket doors are designed for clean, space-saving openings where you want the door panel to
disappear into the wall when open. This creates a seamless connection between rooms while keeping the refined
steel-look aesthetic when closed.
Manufactured using the Alu Space internal door system, pocket doors are made to measure and suitable for
residential and commercial interiors across the UK.
Designed for space saving layouts
Pocket doors are ideal where a hinged door would interfere with furniture, circulation routes or narrow spaces.
Because the door slides into a concealed wall pocket, the opening remains clear and the surrounding room layout
stays flexible.
This configuration is commonly used in:
- Open plan kitchen and dining transitions
- Living room to snug separation
- Home offices and study spaces
- Utility rooms and pantry entrances
- Commercial meeting rooms and offices
- Hospitality and retail interiors
Pocket doors provide the benefits of a full glazed door without the visual footprint of a surface sliding system.
What is a pocket door system?
A pocket door system consists of:
- A sliding door panel on a top track system
- A prepared wall pocket or pocket frame that houses the door when open
- Optional fixed glazing, depending on configuration
When opened, the door panel slides fully into the wall cavity. When closed, the door sits in line with the frame
to create a strong, architectural divider with consistent sightlines and bar alignment.
Pocket doors are often specified where you want a cleaner finish than a standard surface sliding door, with minimal
visible hardware in the open position.

Pocket door configurations
- Single pocket door (panel slides into one wall pocket)
- Double pocket doors (two panels slide into opposite wall pockets)
- Pocket door combined with fixed side screen(s)
- Pocket doors within full-width partitions (door plus fixed glazing)
The right configuration depends on your opening width, the wall construction available for the pocket and the clear
opening you want to achieve.
Sizes and make sizes
All pocket doors are manufactured to approved make sizes using your supplied measurements in millimetres.
Pocket systems must also account for the wall pocket width and any structural details required for the cavity.
Typical sizing considerations
- Overall opening width – determines whether a single or double pocket configuration is best
- Door panel width – must be compatible with the available wall pocket depth and construction
- Overall height – designed around ceiling height, head details and top track requirements
If you are unsure whether your wall construction can accommodate a pocket, we can advise on preparation requirements
before manufacture.
Glazing options
Satin or frosted glazing
Reeded or fluted glazing
Other decorative options
Glazing choice affects privacy, light transmission and the overall look of the bars. We can help match glazing
across doors, side screens and partitions for a consistent finish.
Midrails and design options
- 2-midrail design
- 3-midrail design
A 3-midrail design introduces an additional horizontal bar across the door, creating a more traditional steel-look
grid. Midrail choice also helps align bars across adjoining fixed screens where included.
Hardware and pocket operation
Pocket doors operate on a top track system designed for smooth sliding into the wall cavity. Because the door
retracts into the pocket, handle selection and detailing are specified to suit unobstructed operation.
Key features include:
- Concealed pocket movement for a clean open position
- Smooth sliding action designed for glazed panels
- Handle options suited to pocket entry and exit
- Minimal visible fixings for a refined finish
Colours and finishes
Black RAL 9005 Matt is the standard finish.
Special RAL colours are available on request and priced as a percentage of the base system cost,
subject to a minimum charge. Special finishes must be the same on both sides of the frame.
Supply only or Supply and CompleteFit
Supply only includes manufacture to approved make sizes, UK delivery calculated by postcode,
a 10-year manufacturer guarantee and measuring and installation guidance.
Supply and CompleteFit is available in select postcode areas and includes a pre-installation survey,
professional installation and a 10-year manufacturer guarantee. Installation availability is postcode dependent.
Pocket doors require correct wall preparation before installation. The pocket cavity or pocket frame must be in
place, plumb and structurally sound. Any remedial building work is not included unless agreed following survey.
Delivery and installation coverage
Delivery pricing is calculated automatically using postcode prefixes, with many UK mainland areas qualifying
for free or reduced-cost delivery.
Installation coverage is limited to defined postcode zones, including a local installation area
and an extended two-hour zone.
Technical note
The Alu Space internal door system is not fire rated and is intended for internal use only.
Pocket doors also require suitable wall pocket construction to ensure correct operation.
